Heritage Glass was responsible for the glazing of a large curved external wall, balcony sliding doors and all external windows which used high performance, bronze, double glazed units. The major highlight of the project was the curved wall which was designed and constructed by Heritage Glass. The challenge of this architectural feature was the alignment of the numerous glass pieces to create the exact circumference and angle of the curve as well as reaching the intended distance. Heritage Glass proficiently measured of the area and allocated the exact measurements to each piece of glass ensuring that the glass sizes and layout all fitted together upon installation and achieved the overall length.
The curved wall used a number of the glass panels were oversized, measuring approximately 5.6m high. Heritage Glass’ expertise in the installation of large scale solutions meant that they were able to position and install the glass using numerous cranes and booms while overcoming wind factors on site.
Another significant challenge was the balustrade glass which was used for the balcony sliding doors. Grouted into U-Channels, the balustrade achieved a frameless finish which eliminated the need for handrails. Utilising the service offering of the Schiavello Group, Heritage Glass engaged Glassworks to provide a heavy duty glass product glass called “skyglass”. Due to safety requirements and exposure to high impact, the glass was designed and manufactured to increase the load resistance for potential breakage.
